To be considered a qualified fitness professional, it is mandatory for personal trainers to possess a valid certification in both first aid certification course and CPR certification course. These certifications are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of clients during fitness sessions and in the event of emergencies.

The accredited first aid course that personal trainers undertake is often mistaken as the last they need. However, it’s important to note that CPR certification must be renewed annually, while first aid certification must be renewed every three years. Failure to maintain these certifications can impact the validity of insurance policies and jeopardise not just their membership to certain organisations, but the trainer’s ability to provide basic emergency life support during medical emergencies.

First Aid Course

The training program for first aiders equips personal trainers, gym staff and managers with all the essential first aid and CPR knowledge they require to manage emergency situations in a variety of settings. This certificate is necessary to meet workplace first aid standards of gyms, physiotherapist offices, pilates and reformer studios, places where yoga is offered and more.

The current government-approved certificate HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (formerly HLTAID003) is a requirement to meet fitness workplaces’ first aid standards. It encompasses various types of first aid management for accidents that may occur as a result of misuse of gym equipment, accidents and other incidents requiring a first aid response.

First Aid Pro also have a range of online learning resources on subjects like when does a first aider have a duty of care to provide first aid and when should someone be placed in the recovery position that can make you more confident as a CPR pro and first aider.

To get your first aid certificate, you can go to a First Aid Pro location near you, found in all Australian states and territories. They offer the option of same-day certifications (emailed digitally, with physical copies mailed out at a later date) upon completion of the physical component if the course participant has completed the digital component prior to arriving at the first aid management training venue.

First Aid Pro gives you the choice of multiple locations across every Australian state and territory, offering practical, hands-on instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, choking, infection control procedures, soft tissue injuries assessing, delivering rescue breaths, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), mental health practical skills and other vital first aid procedures. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) the first aid training offered by First Aid Pro is also nationally accredited.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

The First Aid Pro first aid course provides an introductory course to assisting people who are in an emergency situation. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is a comprehensive course that equips individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergency situations.

With the guidance of the experienced and qualified instructors at First Aid Pro, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the principles of first aid, including assessing and managing casualties, performing CPR and applying appropriate first aid techniques. This course covers all first aid courses and classes on a wide range of topics like managing bleeding, burns, fractures and other unexpected medical emergencies. By completing HLTAID011 with First Aid Pro, individuals will be well-prepared to provide immediate assistance and potentially save lives in various emergency scenarios over the course of their careers in the fitness and wellness industry.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is not just helpful for those in the fitness industry, but many other industries like an education first aid course for teachers can benefit from First Aid Pro’s training courses.

What are the Entry Requirements for First Aid Course Personal Trainers

Personal trainers who wish to enrol in a First Aid Course must meet certain entry requirements which typically include a minimum age limit, usually 18 years or older and a basic level of physical fitness to ensure that trainers can perform the necessary tasks during emergencies.

This ensures that they have the fundamental capacity to perform all the actions the instructor at the first aid course will be asking them to do, and will likely align with the requirements of the organisations in the fitness industry that a trainee will be seeking or continuing employment with.
